Our 3D Mapping

Our 3D Laser Scanning and LiDAR Surveys are the most efficient and accurate way to capture true “as built” data from a building or installation, no matter how complex the design. We utilise the latest range of 3D Laser scanners each with different capabilities, ranges, speed durability and accuracies, to generate a completely accurate 3D data set known as a point cloud.

A point cloud is made up of millions of points of data each with a 3D value in space. Due to the superior accuracy and incredibly fast data capture rates of Laser Scanning it is rapidly replacing traditional survey methods.

With a scan rate of 50,000 points per second most scanners can capture data from an entire building, down to sub mm accuracy, in a matter of hours. This allows us to virtually map everything from large scale city models right down to small industrial components.

Our surveys can be commissioned before work begins on a site to allow crucial dimensions and adjacent building heights to be captured for planning purposes, or to fully model an existing building to assist with Building Information Modelling (BIM) programmes, refurbishments or architectural restoration projects.

Once our survey has been completed the point cloud containing all building dimensions can be opened and worked in a number of different software modelling packages, including Revit, to show stunning 3D images of every element of the building, both internally* and externally, enabling key design and planning changes to be easily and confidently implemented.

Key benefits of 3D Laser Scanning

  • Incredibly Fast data capture process reduces site visits.
  • Highly Accurate results every time, down to sub mm.
  • Gather huge amounts of data in stunning 3D detail.
  • Fully compatible with BIM.
    Makes planning / retrofitting easy.
  • Removes guesswork and helps to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compatible with all major modelling software packages.
  • Point Cloud data can be utilised while as-built drawings are being prepared.
  • Suitable for surveying in hazardous environments such as offshore & heavy industry.
  • Design model can be checked against point cloud data to identify any obstructions in
the early stages of a project
    Completely Non-Destructive.
